Ladybird letters

I spied this wonderful idea on another blog -http://www.herecomethegirlsblog.com/2013/08/26/ladybug-letters.html where stones were painted to look like ladybirds and letters were put on their backs.  The child can then find and arrange the letters of their name in the right order.

Today we were pushed for time so we didn't paint the stones - instead I cut out foam shapes and we decorated them.  We cut out a shiny green leaf for them to be arranged on.

Here is our quick version of  the fab idea from "Herecomethegirls" -

We plan to add more letters next week - maybe making some yellow ladybirds too!

Tents in the garden!

The summer holidays are upon us in Scotland already and soon will be in England too!  So this is a wee idea for fun in the garden!
Got an old cardboard box? - Some pens/paints/stickers and the kids can decorate it to make it in to a den.  This can be a focused project with you helping or you can simply give the materials and leave them to it!

This was a wonderful creation that was made.....

This tent was made from 3 garden canes, a bed sheet and some pegs!

Door cut in to the side of the box, and the top decorated.

Science stuff with kids!

After a visit today to the Glasgow Science Centre I have been thinking about science experiments to do at home with children!

Saw this on you tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHoLqvzvDFc some great ideas here!

Am very much looking forwards to trying the milk, food colouring, soap and cotton bud one!

If you know of any science experiments do share them!

Jungle/safari picture

You have to allow for some artistic license with regards to the size of the animals and the fact that they wouldn't actually live together!

Mix of pictures and activities!

3yr old asked to make a wedding cake...so we did!

Easy peasy dinner the kids loved - salmon, spinach and cream cheese inside puff pastry - YUM!

Milk bottle piggies!

Pop some washing up liquid and pink paint inside, lid on and shake!
Glue on some ears and eyes.  Easy! :)
