You have to allow for some artistic license with regards to the size of the animals and the fact that they wouldn't actually live together! 

Mix of pictures and activities!

3yr old asked to make a wedding cake...so we did! 

Easy peasy dinner the kids loved - salmon, spinach and cream cheese inside puff pastry - YUM!

Milk bottle piggies!  

Pop some washing up liquid and pink paint inside, lid on and shake! 

Glue on some ears and eyes.  Easy! :)

weaving

We chose 3 colours of paper.  2 pieces were cut in to strips with zigzag scissors

Then I helped the children to weave them together. 

 

Can talk about colours, patterns, describing words eg "over, under" 

Fairy dust idea from "The imagination tree" blog

First we mixed salt with some paint and shook it up. 

Then added a big tub of hundreds and thousands!

Next time we will be adding some sparkles too..  We used a reusable foil tray from the supermarket.  The imagination Tree suggests any tray lined with tinfoil.  The shine underneath works well when the children draw in it.  

We used various kitchen implements to draw patterns and pictures.  Masher, plastic knife and using a jar to make circles were all popular! 

The tray ended up on the ground and we made footprints in it! (Just make sure no cuts on feet or the salt will sting!)

We also made mini "sand" castles and decorated them with flowers. 

The mixture is being kept in a Tupperware tub and next time the children want to make it in to "fairy land" the way we did with the snow -

Snow sensory play!

What you need - shaving foam (white shaving foam, blue shaving gel won't really work!), a tray of some sort - I used a paint roller tray, a block of ice frozen over night in a tub, some little people/animals to play with and anything else to make a set for them, eg a house/trees/cars.

 

 

 Then cover the whole tray in foam, including the toy houses/cars/trees.grass etc.  Pop the ice out the tub - this becomes the ice rink for the characters to skate on.

 

This activity is lots of fun, and very messy!

 

Can talk about the properties of ice "slippy, hard, cold, melts" etc.   The shaving foam is good for making patterns/writting letters in with fingers.  Lots of fun can be had hiding the toys under the foam and trying to seek them out again!

 

More Christmas tree decorations

Following on from previous blog about these, here are some more we have made!

 

Silver and gold paint from Sainsburys.   Painted the stars silver.

 

 

Then when dry stuck some small silver stars on.

 

Candy canes.  Painted with glitter sprinkled on while paint still wet.

 

Painted gold, and gold glitter sprinkled around the middle.

 

Multicoloured bauble and glitter spinkled on.

 

Tip for doing the round baubles - put them in a cup while trying to paint so as they don't roll away and you don't smudge the other side with your fingers!

 

The first lot we hung up to dry - but the weight of the wet paint made the hook fall off so now I balance them on a cup to dry.
